At present SOS Israel supports over 200 children at risk in Israel through two SOS Children’s Villages, Neradim in Arad,  Megadim in Migdal HaEmek, including 6 youth facilities and an emergency shelter. Our children, who range in age from 6-21, are referred to us by Ministry of Social Welfare, usually by court order.

SOS Israel runs three social centers and two more are under planning stages. These centers include an after school care center in Migdal HaEmek, and two day care centers in Bedouin villages in Galilee.  SOS also offers a community strengthening program designed to reach another 80 children of disadvantaged families, providing assistance to help alleviate their daily crisis.

Children's Villages are based on the concept of mother-centered care.  Our family approach in the SOS Children's Village is based on four principles:
1.Each child needs a mother,
2.Each child grows up most naturally with brothers and sisters,
3.Each child grows up in their own house,
4.Each child grows up within a supportive village environment.

SOS Israel was founded in the 1970's by the late Dr. Moshe Kurtz. The SOS Israeli Association for Children's villages helps children at risk ; orphans or whose families can not care for them. The work is done through the operation of children’s villages, youth facilities and family strengthening programs caring for more than 330 beneficiaries in Israel.

SOS Children's Villages is an independent non governmental development organization, active in 132 countries and territories.
Since its foundation in 1949 in Austria by Hermann Gemeiner,  the organization has been working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children worldwide.
